Renew your Washington State Pilot Escort Vehicle Operator (PEVO) certification through Evergreen Safety Council!
This 4-hour recertification course is designed for currently certified Washington PEVOs who want to renew their certification for an additional 3-year period.
To be eligible for recertification, you must hold a current (not expired) Washington State PEVO certification and successfully complete the recertification course before your current certification expires.
If your Washington PEVO certification has expired, or if your certification was issued by another state, you must complete the full 8-hour Washington State PEVO Certification course.

This 4-hour recertification course reviews current PEVO requirements, industry standards, and best practices established at the state and federal levels.
Topics include:
Washington State laws and regulations for pilot escort vehicle operators.
Requirements for pilot escort vehicles and equipment.
Route planning and escort procedures.
Hazard recognition and emergency procedures.
Updates to PEVO requirements and industry best practices.
🧑💻 Online Class
This instructor-led course is held live using Zoom. You will need a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a working camera, microphone, and speakers.
Instructions for joining your class will be included in your confirmation email.
🧑🏫 In-Person Class
This instructor-led course is held at the location listed on your registration.
Digital materials
After registering, you will be able to download digital copies of the materials.
Printed materials
Online classes: physical copies of the course materials will be shipped to the address you provide during registration. You will receive tracking information via email when your materials have shipped.
In-person classes: materials will be distributed by the instructor at the beginning of your class.
PLEASE NOTE: If your online class date is less than 10 days from when you register, your physical materials may not arrive before your class. You may still attend without your physical materials if you are comfortable using the digital materials during the class and certification exam.
To earn your Washington State PEVO certification, you must:
✅ Attend the entire course.
✅ Successfully pass the certification exam with a score of 80% or better.
✅ Have a valid driver license issued by a U.S. state or Canadian province.
A digital copy of your certification will be emailed to you and can be printed or saved digitally on any device. The printed copy of your certification will be mailed to the address you provide during registration.
Retests
If you do not pass the exam, you may contact our customer service team to schedule a one-time retest, free of charge. Retests must be completed within 30 days of your original class date.
