Washington State Traffic Control Supervisor recertification course - In-person

The Washington TCS recertification class is a refresher course for those who currently hold a valid Washington State Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) or Traffic Control Technician (TCT) certification card.

NOTE: This is an IN-PERSON class. Please make sure you have made arrangements to physically attend this classroom training.

What you’ll learn

This refresher course includes presentations, exercises, and references to federal and state highway construction and traffic control standards. Participants receive a comprehensive training manual and supplemental reference materials to assist with on-the-job practical issues and performance standards.

Requirements

To be eligible to attend this course, you must submit:

  • A current Washington TCS or TCT certification*

  • A current flagger certification from Washington, Oregon, Idaho or Montana

After registering, you will be sent a link to upload both cards. This must be done prior to the day of class.

*Grace period: You may attend this recertification course up to 6 months after the date that your TCS or TCT certification expires. However, you are not eligible to work as a certified TCS or TCT while your card is expired.

Schedule

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to class so that you can get checked in. Morning and afternoon breaks, as well as a 30 minute lunch break, will be provided. At the end of the course, you will take the Washington Traffic Control Supervisor certification exam.

NOTE: Depending on how long it takes for you to complete the exam, you may need to stay beyond the 4pm end time. 4pm is not a guaranteed time for dismissal.

Student materials

At the beginning of class, you will be provided with the student materials, which are yours to keep.

Certification

Washington TCS or TCT certifications will be issued to students who provide the required documentation as outlined above, attend the full 8 hours of the course, and score at least 80% on the exam. Certifications are valid for 4 years.

WA TCS certifications are issued in a digital format. You will receive an email with a PDF of your certification card, which you can save on a device (such as your mobile phone) or print.

All required forms and documents must be submitted and approved before your certification will be issued.

Park on level 2 or below in the Lincoln Square South garage. Bring your parking ticket with you for free validation. Take the elevator up to the 2nd floor. Walk past Nordstrom Rack & Dote Coffee Bar through the Lincoln South Food Hall. The Collaboration Center is located near the restrooms and management office. If you get lost, ask a security guard how to find Nordstrom Rack and they will be able to help direct you.
